STINKY STU, by Trisha Shah and Dreama Cleaver, (co-authored by Jessica Jones) was a group project done in the Autumn Semester 2015 at the Ohio State University ACCAD for the DAIM program. This story is about a middle school girl who becomes interested in a stinky plant when she visits a science center with her classmates. It touches on the underlying themes of the pressures a girl may face if she is interested in something outside what is expected of girls an the rewards of hard work for any young person. This ties in with both Dreama and Trisha’s long term goals of creating awareness about women’s issues, such as identity, body and social image. This project was created in Maya. |

| We tried to keep the work divided between us equally as much as possible. Trisha modeled most of the characters by creating one and then altering the appearance after duplicating. I modeled the plant, Stinky Stu, and did a lot of the editing in the script. Additional assets were used from ACCAD’s library or Turbo Squid with permission. We both used our voices for the characters and then I altered the audio for the different characters. Trisha drew the 2D graphics and I stitched everything in Premiere. We both worked on the frame shots, and collaborated on a lot of the technical issues |

Special Techniques |
Some of the techniques used were modeling one character, duplicating, and then altering it to have a different appearance. We did this in order to save time. We also combined 2D images with 3D animation to give it a storybook feel. The faces were drawn and then applied as textures to the models to give them a painted look. Mental Ray was also used to create a realistic environment for the greenhouse setting. |
