If something drops into my eye
I shall pluck it out before it blinds me
If the river is deep and very high
I shall drink it up before it drowns me
Then I will sit and wait
I shall sit and wait

The moon will fall from the sky
And crash onto the ground
I shall hide it from my eye
Before my body drowns
Then I will get up and leave
I shall get up and leave

I am a solemn toad of days long past
I know not what I say
The hurtful cry of sorrows vast
A child kneels to pray
Then I will gaze and laugh
I shall gaze and laugh

The moonlight drips onto the sand
A slut will sit and cry
Her face is caught by hated hands
My heart is stabbed and dies
Then I will sleep and rest
I shall sleep and rest
