Every time I look at a blank canvas or a
roll of fabric or even a blank computer
screen my mind races with possibilities. I
am like a marathon runner who has only a
mile to the finish line. I get a burst of
energy and suddenly nothing can hold me
back. Every day I set goals for myself and
every day I know I will not finish all of
them. But the ones that stay with me, the
ones that haunt me at night, are the ones I
know I need to pursue. These are the ones
that need to get out; these are the ones
that need to be seen.
Ever since I was a child I have turned my worlds
upside down. In my work, I enjoy putting
things where they do not belong; sometimes a
rock needs to be yellow or a car needs to be
orange. It strikes the viewer’s interest
and they begin to think in ways they have
not before. I follow my intuition and when
it feels right I know it is.
Currently, I am exploring film and what I
can do with moving images. I am very
excited about the program Cinema 4D and what
worlds I can create there. The stories I
thought were not possible for me to convey
in regular film I realize can be created in
a 3D program. I will be able to give the
viewer a window to my mind - the challenge
is having the skills to build it. But, like
the marathon runner in me I know I have only
a mile, or two, to go. |
